Women can’t leave home alone, men have to grow beard: Taliban rules in captured Afghan districts

The Taliban “will restore many” progress made in Afghan women’s rights if the Islamization extremists regain national power, US intelligence analysts warn in May.
The Taliban has issued a new law and regulations in newly arrested districts in the Northeast Province of Afghanistan, Takhar ordered women not to leave home alone and men to grow their beard among others, said report. Ariana News quoted civil society activists at Takhar said that the Taliban had also set a dowry regulation for girls. “They urged women in a statement not to leave without relatives (Moharam) and also urged the man to have a beard,” Raajuddin Sharifi, a civil society activist at Takhar, quoted by Ariana News. Sharifi also said “The Taliban insisted on the trials without evidence.”

The Taliban in the past that imposed a harsh version of Islamic rules. They include restrictions on girls from schools and women from working outside their homes and forbid them from the public without male relatives before they were overthrown after the US-led invasion in 2001. Those who violated the rules often experienced insults and public beatings by Taliban religious police.

Taliban have intensified their attacks on civilians and government defenses and security forces and have controlled several districts throughout the country because foreign troops withdraw from a torn country. The group founded the Tagab district in Kapisa Province on Thursday, Ariana News reported quoting people who were familiar with developments.
