Viral Videos Show UAE Flooded, Cars Float Under Water

In a rare event, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was hit by heavy rain on Thursday, resulting in flooding in many areas. Some videos appear on social media that show people saved from Sharjah and Fujairah by savior. The two cities were very influenced – especially Fujairah because of the terrain and mountain valley. People who live in Dubai and Abu Dhabi reported less rain. Many people are seen taking shelters in hotels and other places to escape from unusual summer floods.
Visual on Twitter shows a car parked on the roads -Fujairah really sinks under water, which is seen entering the empty shops in the Kalba market.

Another video shows the roads at the entrance of the city which is badly damaged by flooding. The car was seen driving on the road filled with holes with asphalt that came out in many stretches.

According to Khaleej Times, heavy rain resulted in flash floods in the eastern part of the houses that damage the UAE and washing vehicles. Military vehicles were deployed to save people from affected areas. The Emirate weather department has issued a red warning given the “dangerous weather event”. It is said that cloudy conditions will last for the next few days, adding that convective clouds can cause rain to fall “to the east and can extend to several internal and southern areas”.

National said in a report that nearly 900 people were saved by emergency workers. It was further said that 3,897 people had been placed in a temporary shelter in Sharjah and Fujairah and would remain there until their home was considered safe for them to return.

The National Meteorology Center (NCM) said climate change was responsible for increasing the frequency of heavy rain in Emirates.

“Global warming and climate change may be one of the reasons responsible for increasing the frequency of rain in the UAE.
