When people head to the zoo, they hope to see animals in action. But the zoo in London has done something extraordinary to attract attention to the threats faced by various species to animals. In the macked up for Siamers Cocodile, the zoo’s authorities have placed a handbag that has been made of the skin, in a place that opposes the use of animal feathers and skin in fashion. Pain photos have been circulating on Twitter since it was posted on August 2 and received more than 370,000 likes and more than 60,000 retweets.
The photo was posted by Twitter Tom users, who visited the zoo, with the statement, “London Zoo is not upset.”
The message attached together with a crown bag makes a serious point. “This bag was found swimming in rivers and slow moving streams throughout Southeast Asia and Indonesia. Over the past 75 years, more than 80% of Siamese crocodiles have disappeared. Many, like this, hunted for their skin as part of illegal wildlife trade , “he said.
According to the BBC, the bag was confiscated by British border officials at London Airport in 2018 and handed over to the zoo to highlight the impact of illegal wildlife trade throughout the world.
“This is not even a funny bag … I get an animal that takes revenge now because you mean you kill my family to make this ugly bullshit?” said one user. “It must be considered serious,” said another.
Siamese crocodiles, which come from the Southeast Asian part, are critically endangered and almost extinct in the wild. Only 500-1,000 this crocodile is considered left throughout the world because of loss of habitat and hunting.
People for ethical treatment of animals (maps), an organization that works towards rough treatment of animals, recently said that more than 1 billion animals were killed because of their skin or hiding every year worldwide.
Reptiles such as snakes, caiman, rat snakes, monitor lizards, Tegu lizards, crocodiles and crocodiles are routinely hunted for their skin. The 196 -year -old zoo, in the London Regent Park, is home to more than 3,000 animals confiscated by border police at City Airport.
