One of the most liked and popular crime dramas starring Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, and Madison Bailey- OUTER BANKS was released in mid-April 2020. There were just ten episodes in total, leaving the audience aroused and anticipated for the second season to drop by.
The wait is over as the showrunners have finally made the official announcement for season 2 to arrive this summer on Friday, 30th June 2021. However, it didn’t come as a complete surprise as there was news from several sources already that the filming had already begun.
Quick Recap Of Season 1
In the first season, we have seen a group of teenagers following a treasure map to get to the $400 million of gold supposedly hidden in a merchant ship already sunk. Amidst the love triangles, the bittersweet relations amongst the teenagers unfolded in a violent way aiming to steal the treasure all alone. Towards the end of the season, John B was blamed for the murder of Ward’s father. The season ends with John B and Sarah telling the boat crew to drop them at the next port, not making it clear where they are headed to and what is the next port? – probably Bahamas.
What’s New In Season 2?
Apart from the old significant characters, SEASON2 is featuring many other new actors, although they are primarily in minor roles, including the following:-
- Jontavious Johnson playing Stubb
- Nick Lawrence as DeputyCollins
- Shane Miclette as Mathew
- Elizbeth Mitchel in an undisclosed position
Season 2 Expectations
It is being suspected that Season 2 of Outer Banks would focus on that massive cliffhanger. The abrupt ending of season 1 has left the audience pondering.
What would happen once they reach the Bahamas, and how Sarah and John B will hunt down the gold’s specific location and deal with whatever measures Ward has dropped in place to shield the treasure are the significant answers that one will look for in the next season.
Talking of Ward, it’s probable that the local authorities will commence investigating his role in the death of John B’s father. However, it’s hard to know how sincerely they’ll take the word of a Pogue youngster.
Rather, they’re more likely to arrest Rafe now that his drug dealer knows about his involvement in the sheriff’s death.
Some other predictions also include
- John B headed in search of his mother
- J ending up living with Kiera
- The reveal of the exact location of gold
Will The Series Continue After Season 2 As Well?
The Creators of Outer Banks and showrunner Jonas Pate have revealed his intentions for Outer Banks exceeding season two. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Pate said, “Ever since we have started, we have always seen it as something that was reasonably like a four-season, maybe five-season show, but four seasons.” He further added that they have sort of long-arced it out pretty far, and he is just hoping that he gets a chance to tell those stories.”
While stuck in quarantine, Pate worked out season two, adding that “before the season even came out, Netflix had green-lit us to write some scripts, so we’ve been working on that for a few months now.” Kidding of what’s to come, he said to look out for “some new mysteries.”
