Last serving US soldier leaves Afghanistan: Who is Major General Chris Donahue?

The United States ended his military mission in Afghanistan a day before the forced deadline on August 31.

Major General Chris Donahue has been identified by the United States Department of Defense as a member who served the last of the US military to leave Afghanistan, ending the 20-year American military presence in the country. “The last American army who will leave Afghanistan: Major Chris Chris Donahue A C-17 from the US Air Force on August 30, 2021, ended the US mission in Kabul,” the Department of Defense said in a tweet.

Major General Donahue is the commander of the 82nd Airborne division official who was under Fort Bragg, the Airborne Corps of North Carolina from the US Army. According to a report in the US today, the officers were deployed this month to help secure Kabul Airport as a deadline for August 31 which was put in effect to attract all of his troops from Afghanistan approaching. He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1992 and was assigned as the second lieutenant.

The next report noted that Donahue had been deployed 17 times to oversee operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, North Africa and Eastern Europe. His career included assignments at the Pentagon, where he served as a special assistant for the head of the head of the staff joints.

Viral images that are now shared by the Pentagon are taken just as the officer getting ready to board the C-17 plane departing.

American forces have landed in the land of Afghanistan in 2001 after an 9/11 attack. They beat the Taliban, five years after the first regime seized power in the country. The final progress of the group headed for Kabul, and the end of the incident, came amid the withdrawal of US troops as directed by President Joe Biden in April this year.
