Surfside, US: The count of death after the collapse of the Florida apartment tower has increased to nine, the local major said on Sunday, more than three days after the Pancakerahi building of the population slept.
“We can restore four additional bodies in debris and additional human remains,” Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava told reporters in Surfside, near Miami Beach.
“To this day one victim died in the hospital and we have found eight more victims at the location so I confirmed today that the number of deaths is nine.” He said four victims had been identified and their family members had been told.
More than 150 people remain countless.
The search has been very slow, hampered in the early days with fire that burns far on the mountains of debris which according to officials they believe is now under control.
Officials have emphasized that there may be survivor buried in debris. Cava said that the team had cut “trench in” through a crooked pile of debris to help in the search.
“The length is now 125 feet into a stack, a width of 20 feet and 40 feet deep,” he said, adding that it was “critical” for the search process, and it was as a result of the restored additional body trench.
