Apple AirPods 3 were expected to be among the goods unveiled at Apple’s autumn event earlier this year, with the iPhone 13 series and new iPads. The product, however, was never launched. Now, according to a fresh claim from DigiTimes, the third-generation AirPods may still come before the end of the year.
According to a previous report, the redesigned AirPods were in mass production. Apple is scheduled to have a new Mac event before the end of the year, which will likely include the unveiling of the updated AirPods 3.
Design
As various leakers, publications, and supply chain speculations have indicated, AirPods 3 will resemble AirPods Pro but will be devoid of the ear tips. According to Bloomberg, the wireless earphones will have a short stern. In pursuit of a “universal fit,” this updated design may benefit people who have issues with the previous AirPods design sliding off their ears.
According to Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter, the next entry-level AirPods model will sport a “design closer to the AirPods Pro, featuring a redesigned in-ear form and shorter stems” before the end of August. According to him, this is the “biggest substantial change to that segment of Apple’s AirPods lineup since the original model launched in 2016.”
Dolby Atmos, a longer battery life, and more
While the AirPods 3 will resemble the AirPods Pro. In fact, they will lack premium features such as Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency Mode. This implies that these new earbuds will include a fresh design, improved performance and connection, and a few new functions. Apple is expected to market Dolby Atmos with Spatial Audio heavily with this next generation to help users differentiate the new AirPods from the previous ones.
Users are also anticipating battery upgrades and improved microphones in the next-generation AirPods. Apple is beta testing a new Conversation Boost function for AirPods Pro, which may make its way into these new earphones. According to leaker Max Weinbach, Apple’s wireless earbuds charging case would receive a roughly “20 percent greater battery than the second version.” With regards to this new model, wireless charging is anticipated to be standard, which means Apple will not sell a device that simply charges via Lightning.
Regarding sound quality, PineLeaks states that the overall sound should be similar to the second generation, but with substantially improved bass and low end, most likely owing to the revised design.
Date and price of launch
AirPods 3 were supposed to be launched in the spring of 2021, but that never happened. Ming-Chi Kuo, a reputable Apple analyst, said the launch will come in Q3. Mark Gurman did not specify a specific month for the introduction of his Power On newsletter, only that it would occur “in the fall.” Previously, DigiTimes reported that Apple will debut the AirPods 3 during its September event, which did not occur. According to a fresh source, these earphones have entered manufacturing and will ship this month.
Following Apple’s announcement of the “Unleashed” event last week, a Chinese leaker said the firm will introduce the third-generation AirPods at this keynote. Dylandkt, another notable leaker, doubled down on this prediction, stating that the AirPods 3 would be unveiled at today’s keynote.
Apple is anticipated to sell the AirPods 3 between $150 and $200. Apple has yet to confirm if it would sell two distinct models, one with a wireless charging cover and one without, or just one with a wireless charging case.
