At least 31 civilians have been killed in the eradication of Iranian security forces over the protest that erupted over the death of Mahsa Amini after his arrest by the Moral Police, said an NGO based in Oslo today.
“Iranians have come to the streets to achieve basic rights and their human dignity … and the government responds to their peaceful protests with bullets,” said Iranian Human Rights Director (IHR) Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam in a statement, published Victims after six days of protest.
IHR said that he had confirmed the protests that occurred in more than 30 cities and other central centers, increasing concerns over the “mass arrest” of the protesters and activists of civil society.
The protest first erupted during the weekend in the northern province of Kurdistan, from which Amini came from, but now has spread throughout the country.
IHR said his victims were the death of 11 people killed Wednesday night in the City of Amol in the North Mazandaran Province in the Kaspia Sea, and six died in Babol in the same province.
Meanwhile, the big city in the northeast of Tabriz saw his first death in protest, said IHR.
“The criticism and expression of concern by the international community is no longer sufficient,” said Amiry-Moghaddam.
Previously, the Hengaw Kurdish rights group said 15 people had been killed in Kurdistan Province and other Kurdish-populated areas in northern Iran, including eight on Wednesday night.
