Early life
Michael Ballack was born near Görlitz in the former GDR. At the age of seven he started playing football at BSG Motor “Fritz Heckert” Karl-Marx-Stadt. Local coach Steffen Hänisch quickly pays attention to the technical skills of the young people. Ballack played his first match in the Junior Division on October 4, 1983. In his first season he managed to score twelve goals. Ballack quickly develops leadership skills in his young team. Career highlights
Ballack won its first German championship in 1998 with 1. FC Kaiserslautern. After helping Leverkusen missed the championship title with his own goal in the last match in 2000, he won double with Munich in 2003, 2005 and 2006.
